John Charles Agnew of Sunnyvale, CA passed away Monday, August 11, 2014, at his home. John was born January 19, 1944 in Burlington, Wisconsin to Mary Roberta (Cox) and John Willard Agnew. He grew up in Burlington and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1962. A member of the Triangle Fraternity, John graduated from Marquette University in 1966 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. In 1968, John married his devoted wife, Mary Catherine Bultman of Wauwautosa, WI. The couple moved to Sunnyvale in the early 1970's and raised two children, Tim Agnew and Shannon (Agnew) Evers. John was a loving father; coaching little league and mentoring young women through Girl Scouts. He loved the game of soccer and was an AYSO referee for over 35 years. An avid Oakland Athletics fan, he loved learning to cook new recipes, playing with his grandsons, and being a handyman for family and friends. He is also known for his Thanksgiving turkey on the grill.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kay; his son, Tim Agnew and wife Beth; his daughter, Shannon Evers and husband Lindel; brothers Robert, Dick, Jim, David and Gerry and sisters Kathy Kugelmas and Mary Robertson. He is also survived by three grandsons Justin Evers, Charles Evers and Cole Agnew. John is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
