Obituary

Stephen (Steve) Lion, son of the late Paul “Bun” and Marty Lion, passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2018, after a short but courageous battle against cancer. At his wish, just before his passing he was able to celebrate his life with over 100 close friends and family who came to see him just to be with him one last time. Steve leaves behind his wife of almost 23 years, Lissa, and two children - Nicholas (21) and Lauren (17). He is also survived by his twin brother Paul “Chip” Lion III (Mary), sister Alexandra, brother Christopher Lion-Transler (Fred), niece Moira Lion, nephews CJ and Ryan Lion, sister-in-law Linda Hitchcock, brothers-in-law Jim (Suzanne), Michael (Valerie), and Mark Delaney, and their children and grandchildren.
Steve was a fifth generation San Josean. A graduate of Willow Glen High School, he went on to San Diego State University earning a BS degree in Business Marketing and becoming Eminent Archon (President) of his beloved SAE fraternity.

After college, Steve moved back to San Jose and began his career in the technical staffing industry working for TECH Aid. Steve became branch manager and grew the office to become the largest and most productive of the company’s 90 offices and for over a decade was ranked the top ten, and usually the top, staffing firm by the San Jose Business Journal. He was well respected as a peer, a manager, and a mentor.

Steve participated in the Holy Names Society at St. Christopher Church, Dad’s Club at Bellarmine College Preparatory, and Y Guides and Princesses. He loved hanging out around his pool, following basketball, baseball, golf, and the Oakland Raiders too, but his favorite pastime was watching his children participate in sporting events.

He was a past member of the Saint Claire Club, Congress Springs, and past president of the National Technical Services Association (NTSA) Nor Cal Chapter.
Anyone who knew him would describe him as a kind and respectful gentleman, with a zest for life and a twinkle in his eye, and great love for his family and friends.

Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00P.M at ST. CHRISTOPHER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2278 Booksin Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125 with a reception to follow.
